The UTG-306 Universal Tank Gateway is a powerful and flexible solution designed for efficient tank data acquisition in small to medium-sized tank farms. Acting as the central communication interface between field instruments and host systems, the UTG-306 collects and manages data from Honeywell-Enraf level gauges, ensuring reliable access to critical tank information at all times.
Installed in the site control room, the UTG-306 connects directly to the Honeywell-Enraf Bi-Phase Mark (BPM) fieldbus and communicates with Inventory Management Systems (IMS), SCADA platforms, and PLC applications via the industry-standard Modbus RTU protocol.
The gateway continuously scans and retrieves key tank parameters, including:
• Product level
• Temperature
• Pressure
• Density
All collected data is stored in a local real-time database, providing host applications with 24/7 access to accurate, up-to-date tank information for monitoring, reporting, and operational control.
For larger tank farm installations, multiple UTG-306 units can be deployed in parallel to increase scanning capacity and improve system performance. Multiple gateways can also be combined into a single node, extending the number of level gauges that can be monitored on a single BPM fieldbus.
The UTG-306 includes a dedicated host communication port for seamless integration with IMS, SCADA, or PLC systems. Its modular architecture supports expansion through integration with the UCI-108 Universal Communication Interface, enabling:
• Additional local or remote service ports
• Expansion of BPM fieldbus networks
• Enhanced system flexibility and scalability
This modular approach allows the UTG-306 to adapt easily to evolving operational requirements and future system expansions.
The UTG-306 is designed for quick deployment and effortless operation. Built-in intelligent scanning queues eliminate the need for complex configuration or setup procedures.
Simply configure the host application to read the relevant Modbus registers associated with tank variables. The UTG-306 automatically initiates and manages the corresponding data requests, delivering efficient and reliable communication without additional engineering effort.
